Year Six Taster Day - Maths
Number of Verticies + Number of Faces – Number of Edges = 2
We had a class of 80 Y6 students ably assisted by Mr Greenop, Mr Ogley , 6 senior students, Miss McDowell and Mrs Bowden. Students had to match up key maths words and pictures to find the groups to work in, take part in a carousel activity to count vertices, faces and edges, some deep thinking to discover Euler’s Theorem, a challenge to draw on isometric paper a shape that matched certain criteria and finally a homework to create a 3D calendar from a net and check if Euler works for their creation.
The Y6 students at the end were invited to assess the lesson. The responses were:
