Pupil Premium Statement 2017
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, that is funding which is additional to main General Annual Grant funding (GAG,) is the best way to address current inequalities by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the students who need it most.
It is left to schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision is most appropriate for the individual pupils for whom they are responsible.
New measures have been included in the performance tables that capture the achievement of those disadvantaged pupils covered by the Pupil Premium. Schools are also required to publish online information about how the premium has been used.
Pupil Premium students are defined as any student who in the previous 6 years has fallen into one of the following categories; looked after children, children of service personnel, children in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM)and children adopted from care.
Year 7 Catch-Up Premium 2016-17
The Year 7 catch-Up premium has been offered by the Government as a commitment to provide additional funding to schools. This is aimed at each year 7 pupil who did not achieve at least 100 (scaled score) in their KS2 in the Key Stage 2 national curriculum tests in reading and/or mathematics. The purpose of this funding is to enable Ringmer to deliver additional support, such as individual tuition or intensive support in small groups, for those pupils that most need it. £500 is received per student in March following their start with us. This does not mean an individual entitlement to the funding, rather the school has the discretion to spend this money to ensure that identified students are able to make the necessary progress.
Proposed Expenditure for 2016/2017
We have currently identified 24 pupils eligible for the catch-up premium in the academic year 2016-17. This is made up from:

The funding allocation is being spent in a variety of ways to help support the students make progress with their English and Maths.
- Withdrawal from lessons for small group interventions for Literacy.
- Maths lesson interventions
- Reading, phonic and handwriting sessions
- Literacy and Numeracy co-ordinator roles
